Tigo Energy, the worldwide leader in Flex MLPE, designs innovative solar power conversion and storage products that provide customers more choice and flexibility. But did you know Tigo Energy also provides industry-leading software solutions? In this four-part blog series co-authored by our industry partner Mayfield Renewables, we will overview the Tigo Energy Intelligence (EI) platform — The solar monitoring and commissioning tool with exceptional capabilities. What is Tigo Energy Intelligence Platform? How is it used? Why are installers winning more business by pairing optimizers with advanced software? This series of blogs is a valuable source for solar professionals overseeing multiple deployments for commercial or residential projects. Follow along with the Tigo blogs to learn more.
Tigo Energy has developed innovative module-level power electronics (MLPE) since our founding in 2007. Our mission is to accelerate solar adoption worldwide, and with over 1 GWh of daily monitored production across seven continents, we are living out that mission in real time.
Tigo’s roots are in MLPE hardware. We are most well-known for our popular TS4 Flex Optimizers and recently launched the Tigo GO residential energy storage system. Customers come to Tigo for high-quality components backed by industry-leading service. But we believe offering advanced hardware is just one ingredient in the recipe for success. That’s why we’ve launched Tigo Energy Intelligence Platform (EI).
Energy Intelligence is a product-agnostic monitoring platform that maximizes solar site performance, minimizes O&M costs, and enables rapid commissioning for solar installers everywhere. Installers who use EI software can improve their offering to new customers while easily tracking the performance of existing projects. In this article, we will outline a few of the key features within the EI platform and how installers are using the platform to scale more efficiently.
Fleet Management
Zoom out for complete visibility of all your installations in a single screen. Sort and filter systems by health status, technologies, locations, and more. Prioritize maintenance and service by identifying installations that require immediate attention, such as those with warnings or critical alarms.
To enhance your efficiency, group “like” systems together, enabling you to easily access pertinent information tailored to your specific needs and decision-making requirements. As an example, create a “Group” of your solar installations that are in a selected zip code, have a specific production rating range, and use a specific manufacturer’s inverter. Effortlessly choose your inverter from a vast selection of third-party options supported by the EI Platform through a user-friendly pull-down menu. Then, provide a name for this group, and save it for quick access in the future.
The EI Fleet Manager tool generates graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to make analysis at a glance feasible.
Tigo EI is the only monitoring platform that offers complete visibility to all installed and yet-to-be-commissioned projects on one page. Tigo installers rave about having all the important data in a simple, intuitive interface, which makes proactive O&M feasible and avoids unnecessary and expensive truck rolls.
Module-Level Data
When more detailed data is needed, EI can zoom into sites at a module level, with data updates at industry-leading one-minute intervals. View current and historical performance metrics or setup instant notifications if an issue is detected.
It is highly valuable for installers to remotely trace performance issues down to an individual module or optimizer. Complete visibility into the Reclaimed Energy and the system’s ROI not only demonstrates the value of the chosen equipment to homeowners but also provides them with peace of mind, knowing they have made the right product selection.
Product Integration
The Energy Intelligence Platform is compatible with most leading inverter manufacturers. With Tigo MLPEs such as TS4 Optimizers installed in your solar system, whether a site uses 100% Tigo products or a mix of different components, you gain the power to effortlessly monitor your solar production and performance data, ensuring your solar sites remain in peak condition. This greatly simplifies service operations by avoiding reliance on multiple monitoring platforms for different system types.
Once commissioned, Tigo EI allows installers to filter systems by product, which can illuminate systemic issues or common problems associated with a particular inverter, optimizer, module, etc.
Having more product flexibility is an added benefit to both the installer and the system owner. Installers can offer a wider variety of systems, and system owners can view all their system data from a single source — regardless of the components.
Tigo Energy Intelligence is one of the most powerful solar monitoring and commissioning solutions on the market today. Installers around the world use the EI platform as a one-stop-shop to assess system- and fleet-level health. System owners enjoy the benefits of module-level data, proactive maintenance alerts, and peace of mind seeing their quantified energy savings. The net effect is happier customers, smoother installs, and simplified O&M.
